I just bought some clownfish recently and on of the pairs was sold to me as a spawning pair. Well they keep "shaking" and niping each other. I thought that those was signs of them pairing up? Can someone tell me if this is a mated pair or a forming pair. They are both pretty big.

If you have a pair getting along they could be called a bonded pair.
They are not a mated pair until they are spawning, which means you will see eggs about every two weeks.

The guy I bought them from said they laid eggs 2 times a month. But the male is shaking? I thought that was a sign of them forming into a pair? Or do all clowns do that.

Normally that is more so at the beginning, though I guess he could still be doing that.
In either case it sounds from your description they are at the very least bonded, the rest happens from there if it has not already so still cheers to you!

A BONDED pair possibly/most likely.
So cheers and a beer for that, when you see eggs we'll pop the cork on the big bottle!

Then I will drink both in celebration!
Heck, I'm going to assume complete success and celebrate tonight!
You get root beer.
Now clean your room and say nice things to your Mom

You should know within a month or so, assuming you are doing everything right in terms of water conditions, feeding, etc. whether they are a breeding pair. If they were breeding from the guy you got them from then they should fall right back into it. When I sold a breeding pair after shipping them to a guy (about 10 hours in transfer) they only took a month to get going again.

I currently have three pairs

Skunks clowns- just started laying

Ocellaris- Bought them as a spawning pair... So hopefully they will be laying in a couple months

Black foot misbar clown pair- Just a mated pair- no eggs yet.

Not the best pics but here you go-

pink skunks correct? NM just saw they are the orange skunks

nice group of clowns though :D

Thanks! It took me a couple years to get the skunks. One bad things about them is, it seems they are I regulator spawners. But I about to have my last tank setup for them so I can start raising more babies.
