Do I have enough light?

Would 175w of 10k or 14k MH with 72w of PC Actinic over a 29g display be enough to keep clams?

IMO you should be fine keep crocea or maxima up high on the rockwork. Derasa, squamosa, or giga's will grow too big too fast for 29 g

Crocea is what Im thinking of trying. How high? Im primarily worried about the PC actinics...any other opinions?

you should have no problem keeping a clam anywhere in your tank. Just make sure to watch for temperature changes.

What about if i ditched the actinics and went with 14k of 175W MH? I think if I could do that I could help with the temp swings...PC can burn hot

Well I meant to say ditch the PC's to lower the heat. Does anyone think I could do it with a 175w of 14k MH lighting? or 175w of 12k MH lightng?

175W 15,000K - Iwasaki

has a good par and good color plus iwasaki is known for their quality of products. some say you need a actinics and some dont.

as far as temp goes just add some fans.

depth from water surface, ~4" depending on how far you have your bulb from the water surface and quality of reflector.
