Do I have to cure it...

Here's the deal I am adding rock from TBSW into a prexisting 7 month old aquaurium. Do I need to go through a curing process for a while...I know supposedly you shouldnt have to, but everyone on other boards is telling me to. Also, I am planning on taking one piece out at a time and placing it into a rubermaid with salt water to try and boot out any hitchhikers, but do I really have a chance of getting rid of all the bad ones? Seeing as I already have my tank going i ahve to be a little more concerned with catching the bad critters the first time. Any ideas?

I got my rock from a reefer I didn't even know: they were remodeling and I lucked out. I had a minicycle in about 2 weeks, and what survived it was amazing.Spionid worms

There's some downside as you can see in the list, but the hitchhikers can be lived with and are apt to come in on the first specimen you buy. I'm very glad I didn't do anything to diminish the life I got.

I added a TBS package to an existing tank. Took the whole thing in one shipment. I had a small spike but nothing serious, and everything survived. Water changes are key.

I checked all my rocks carefully, and removed all the mantis, and most of the crabs. About a week of crab hunting, and I was good to go.

You should be able to pull it off without any problems.

I got part 1 of the TBS rock, cleaned off anything looking dead and put the rock in the water within minutes of opening the boxes. I had a HUGE ammonia spike, over 4 ppm for a week. It did finally cycle though.

Did you add that to a pre-cycled tank with rock, or a new setup?

Mine was to raw unwashed dry aragonite sand, cold saltwater, on a January night, and local [nearly dry] transport of said rock in the back of a pickup truck.
