Do I invest?

I have the ability to purchase a Marineland 250 that is a little over a yr old. It comes with an 83 gal sump and metal stand, all for 200. I was told that the tank has a small leak on the side seam. My question is, is it smart to try and reseal with euro bracing top and bottom, and seal a rod on the leaking side for security. As well as one going from front to back on top. Would love to know opinions before investing

Personally I wouldn't go near a tank with a known leak, even if you re seal it. It's just a weak point that is more likely to fail again in the future. Depending on the quality of the 83 gal sump and metal stand, that might be worth 200 to some.

Any leak means the silicone is structurally compromised, and no amount of 'reasealing' is going to fix that. A big old pass. BTW, your use of the word 'invest' made me smile. If investment implies return of capital plus earnings, then this hobby is about the worst investment imaginable

I guess it could be a tear down/repair project just for fun if you're into that. Although, it sounds like a project I'd do nothing but swear profusely at. If it's a tank you want to seriously setup and use in your home, I wouldn't go near it.
