Do I need a checkvalve on the ATO

Hello Roger,

Do you recommend a check valve when pumping from the ground to the display tank (5')? If so, what do you recommend with the black tubing that comes with the ATO? I have never had an ATO, and I am worried about a siphon removing water out of the display tank. The line that tops off is above the waterline, and very secure in place with the airline holder (I even added a dab of superglue gel).

Thank you,
Mike

You could use one if you wanted but as long as the tubing cannot touch the surface of the tank, there is no reason to need one. If you decide to use one, use a standard duck bill airline check valve and place it inside the reservoir in case the hose pops off, in general I wouldn't use one, they add a weak point (hose possibly popping off).
