Do I need a different protein skimmer?

I am setting up a 225 gallon FOWLR predator tank and I have a vertex alpha 170 protein skimmer which is only recommended for use up to 220 gallons, will it work okay or do I need to buy a different skimmer? Thank you.

Its likely be just fine for a while..
Try it and see how it goes..You can always upgrade later.

I don't have experience with that particular skimmer but there are some simple things you can do to boost it's performance as well. Carbon dosing will greatly increase the amount that it pulls out. I've also found dosing ozone into the skimmer to greatly increase it's efficiency as well. I'm not sure if they have an automatic neck cleaner for that skimmer, but that would also help.
