do i need skimmer for a 25l?

[welcome]

It would be a good idea. Just to check something, With that L at the end do you mean long or liter?

Thank you:) it meant liter, the problem is that were i live they dont sell skimmers for so small tanks:( is it possible to do without? just liverock, im not going to keep fish just small inverts.

and how much light? and what kind?

Yea, for that small of a tank you really don't have to have a skimmer. Liverock and a small power filter turned into a fuge would be good.

ja__

Just keep in mind that if you are new to reef keeping, a 25 liter will be a real challenge. The smaller the tank, the less stable it is when it comes to water conditions.

Good luck.

Thanks for the heads up:)

About the lightening:

I only have 3*15w phillips tld 965 would it be suffecient for some coralls and that kind of stuff? and what type of powerhead do you recomend? i have som aquael heads 400 l/h but dont think they will survive the saltwater:(

hey what does a fuge mean?

what salinity is recomended?

A fuge is a sperate container or space where you put a sandbed in and add marine plants such as cheato and ect. You can do a search here for Fuge and get some more results. A good salinity would be 1.024-1.025

You should check out the nano forum in the special interest section here and also have a look at a nano-reef.com . You will find a whole forum area dedicated to refugiums there.

You should be able to keep shrooms, zoas, sun corals, etc with your current lights.

All the best with it.

Well, most tanks are kept at 0 or near 0 in terms of nitrates and such, thus starving the sponge, but there are articles written about skimmerless tanks with thriving sponges. If there's food for the sponges, they will thrive. It doesn't hurt to try a small ball of it.

I have a 10 Gal reef tank that is cycling right now. im wondering if a skimmer would be vital or going with sponges may be the more attractive yet riskier route.
