Do I Need to Feed 4" Clam?

At the risk of sounding stupid, here goes.

I thought that I had read that clams (derasa specifically)
fed themselves almost exclusively by photosynthesis, at
least the larger ones. The guy at the LFS said I need to
feed phyto.

Is this correct? If so how much how often?:rolleye1:

feeding of clams are not required. they are like sps corals, as long as you feed your fish, or add some nutrients in your tank every now and then, that is sufficient for the clam to feed off of. live phyto may be required for the smaller clams (less than 2 inches) but this is technically still in theory and unproven.
