Do I really need a skimmer????????

I have a drilled 55g tank. With refuguim. Do i really need to use a skimmer. I heard people not using a skimmer when they have a refuguim. I wanted to know. If I dont need one that will be good. Because I can use the money on corals or fish. I just setting up my tank. I have cured live rock already. I cured it in a rubber maid bucket. So die off will not be a issue

I would invest in a skimmer before adding any livestock. It's easier to keep water parameters correct than try to correct them after you have a problem.

Some people use skimmers, some don't. If you have a refugium you might not need one, but getting one couldn't hurt.

Dont skimp, skim in the long run you be glad you did. Get the
best you can afford. Water quilty is a must. Reefs are long term

Some people keep very nice tanks without skimmers, but skimmers make a great safety net, IMO, and I would recommend having one.

i use only when i cycle a tank. i also use arag-alive DSB 4" with at least 1.5 lbs per gallon of LR. have to keep low bio-load but it does work only if you are careful and patient. add slowly wait for tank to adjust then add little more.
