Do Mantis stay in hiding?

I bought my rocks about 3 weeks ago and the person said there was a mantis with the rocks (a mantis is the ones that make a clicking sound right?). I'm cycling my tank with those rocks and I don't know if the mantis died or not. I heard the clicking sounds in the beginning, but it stopped now.

So what happened to it?

both mantis and pistol shrimp make a clicking sound. If it is a mantis, it probably won't be as frequent as if it were a pistol shrimp. My pistol shrimp (I have a very pretty atlantic which is orange and yellow) makes a loud noice that almost sounds like the tanks is cracking. More like a loud *CRACK*

I would just keep observing the rock. You can try the club soda method. Take the rock out of the tank, use a turkey baster and squirt club soda in the hole.. out pops the critter. I don't know if this method will kill the critter or anything on the LR.
