I've had a burning question for the past little bit here ever since I read it but do people actually pee in the tank to get the cycle started or is it just a joke? Lol

No I didn't pee in my tank if you were wondering lol.

Ive read a few times that you could, would provide the ammonia for a sterile rock start. Never had it confirmed though.

I'm pretty sure it is just a joke but I am sure some idiot actually did it. What you want to do is put a raw table shrimp in your tank. That is a source of nutrients that will start the cycle.

i think it'll work but i didn't have a ladder to climb over the tank and pee into it. also i won't be willing to use my mouth to siphon for water changes after peeing in the tank. so i used the raw shrimps instead.

I've never met someone who confessed to doing this. I think the dead shrimp/prawn from the grocery stuff makes more sense logistically.
