do pods need light?

Okay, I know they don't grow in caves or anything, but if I throw some rubble in my sump, will they populate it without lighting, or will I have to put a light source down there?

This is for a future sump of only ten gallons, probably with no refugium involved.

No they don't need light. I have 30 or 40 living in a sponge every time I clean it out. It also seems that they reproduce in there too.

I agree, no light necessary. It seems to me that they may actually prefer no light.

No light for them, but would be nice to be growing chaeto for them and nutrient export, and that would need light.
The cheapo round reflectors at HD w/ same bulb Melev uses(energy saver bulb that looks like flood) works just fine for that.

I agree no light is required. I had alot growing in my overflows and they were just munching on my detritus.
