Do Raccoon Butterflyfishes eat shrimp?

Inquiring minds want to know. I need some aiptasia cleanup and this one is great at that but I also have shrimp, primarily cleaner shrimps. Thanks in advance for any information.

Snorvich,

Raccoons will not eat larger shrimps, i.e. cleaners, fire, CBS, saron, etc.

Remember, Raccoons do like coral polys.

Just out of curiosity, what even brought up the idea that a butterfly fish fish could eat a cleaner shrimp?

The short form of a longer story . . . is that I have this great little raccoon butterfly downstairs in my frag tank cleaning rock of aiptasia. He cleans it, I move it out to another tank and give him more rock to clean. But it occurs to me, why not put him in my large tank where he can clean directly. However there were a couple of issues: I have 4 butterfly fish already in this tank, so compatibility with them is an issue (a pair of C. semilarvatus, C. marginalis (small), and C. mitratus) as well as I have a large number of cleaner shrimp. So, I was wondering if that would work out . . .

Interesting.... I've never had a problem with Butterflies and shrimp. BZA compat. chart;

I'm surprised your Semis aren't mowing that aiptasia down.................mine used to annihilate them & just about everything else that grew out of a rock.

I don't see an issue with compatibility............sometimes similar patterns/colors BF's will fight. Those are all aggressive/fast eaters except for the marginalis. You might have to make extra sure the marginalis gets his share, but other than that I'd give it a go.

The shrimp should be fine.

Well the Semis may actually like aiptasia as well. They are new (I am converting this tank to FOWLR and "whatever will survive") and young.
