ive read alot on the forums about seios being complete peices of crap. is their truth to this. how long should i expect the seios 2600s to last.
do seios suck?

I've got a few I've had for about 3 or 4 yrs now with no problems at all, they aren't a Stream but they are a good bang for the buck.

are u guys dosing kalk in ur tank. i heard kalk will tear them up for some reason. i wonder why the get such a bad rap. do u think its because of the price? u knw some people have to pay a lot for something to feel like its a good product. or some equate price w/ quality.

yeah i think tunze and ecotech are awesome but i dont understand why they charge that much for a powerhead. i would really love to have the vortech but 300$??? how can they rationalize charging that much. it cant cost that much to make them. it seems like it would b smarter from a business standpoint to lower the price and make them affordable to more people= more sales in the long run.

I do dose Kalk to the system that i have the Seio's in and still no problems. The reason the Streams and such cost more is they have features that you can't get with other pumps, my streams pulse between 30% and 100% flow and also shift between each pump sequentially, hard to get a more random flow then that.
it's just like buying a car, you can get a striped down basic version with no power windows/seats, no AC, 5 speed, no head liner and cloth seats or you can get the same car with power everything, moon roof, heated mirrors, automatic headlights/wipers, leather seats, auto trans with OD, and dual zone climate control.

yeah the nanos dont push out enough. ime runnin a 125 sps tank, i would need like 5 or six of the 6045s. and they cost 100 each when i could get to seios that push out 2600 each for 150.
i really considered the 6045 until i was reading on the forum that they didnt even push out 1200gph, more like900 gph. the vortechs appeal to me are there size, their 3000gph flow, and their wide flow pattern. i looked at the hydor korrallia 4s as well i cant decide. what do u feel would be best for my setup? 4 6045s, 2 seios 2600s, 2 tunze 6080s, or 4 hydor korralia#4s?

uve got far more reefing expereince than me do u feel like those extra options are important enough to the well being of the reef to spend the extra dough?

of course i do, that's why in my 180g I've got the Streams with the multi controller. and if I'd of had the $$$ at the time I'd of went with Streams over the Seios I've got.

only for the 1100 - 2600 series if i recollect and then only an high/low between 50 and 100%

if i wanted to do it once and do it right yes, I'd go with the Streams.
the choice would be do i go with 6100s or 6200s, you can always go with a single pump and the multi controller and then add pumps later if you choose, that helps with the initial up front cost.

what ranks the tunze w/ the controllers above the seios 2600s w/ controllers in ur opinion?

I just posted a thread on Tunze vs VorTech for what people preferred. Looks kind of like a mixed review. The people that have both think they are both good, but you are not able to direct the flow of the vortech and maybe a small amount more loud than tunze.
Right now, vortech doesn't have a controller either, so I thought the tunze would be better. They were out a lot longer, have a controller, good customer service (along with vortech I guess), and able to adjust flow a little.
I think I'm going to get some tunze with the multicontroller sometime. I would wait though until the end of the month. I guess they are bringing out the 6101's which will be able to be a 6000 or 6100, either or.
Go check out the multicontroller on marine depot or something and read about it. It looks pretty cool with all of its functions.

flow control and IMO a single 6100 has twice the flow of the M2600s. the multi-controller has the ability to turn on the pumps sequentially, do tide mode, night mode, pulse at any two setting between 30% and 100% (not just 50% or 100%) and any and all combinations in between, you can also adjust the pump switching rate as well as the pulse rate.
i flip a switch on my controller every few days and i go from tide mode to pulse mode, then a few days later i flip it to sequence mode and in a few days flip it again, it's something different to the tank every few days, and IMO it's hard to beat...........well other then throwing in a wavebox, but that's a whole 'nother ballgame

so what controller would i wanna go w/? i know nothing about these things. is the random flow really necessary to keep a healthy sps reef? ive seen alot of totm w/ just powerheads spraying against the glass and rocks to keep random flow. but i guess thats a differnt thread all together. what should i look for in a controller.
