the reason that i ask is I received a rock with some Ricordia on it from a tank that was a raffle at Macna. It also had a ton of hair algae. I removed almost all the hair algae and then this brown wafer like stuff appeared. very small 2-3 mm but a ton of them. at night they seem to recede. there is a little bit of flourescing going on but not a lot. mainly in the center of the "leaf" they also seem to recede when I remove the light to do work on the tank.
I went through all the pictures at Algaebase and didn't see a whole lot that looked like it but.... the rock also has a couple small colonies encrusting porites on it. they are a dark red under regular light and under actinics have a beautiful green glow.
I don't know if any of this helps but.... any suggestions would be great.
