Do Sunpods have to match tank width?

I was just wondering if I really need to order a 30" Sunpod MH for my 29g tank, vs. say a 20". All the small fixtures only have one MH lamp that is centered over the tank, and the smaller ones are obviously cheaper. Is anyone who has had experience with these lights able to give me advice?

Thanks!

Unless you plan on hanging it, than you will need the 30" one. I don't know if the moon lights are spaced out any differently on the 20"s vs. the 30" ones.

I personally have the 250watt 30" one over my 29, didn't want to hang it.

Thanks, Toddrtrex -

How do you like your 250w? Have you had any problems with heat or bleaching of corals? I still can't decide with certainty between the 150w or 250w.

I've had it for about two months now, and overall I am very pleased. The fans are a bit loud, but the room that it is in that doesn't bother me.

I have a clip on fan over my sump, and that works perfectly for keeping the temp in check (hooked up to the Reefkeeper 2), and that room is the warmest room in my place.

As for bleaching -- no problems at all, I have one SPS fairly close to the light too. Will try to take a picture of it tomorrow - batteries are recharging for my camera.

Sounds great! I have installed two 3" fans that will suck cooler room air into my stand and hopefully keep the sump cool and the humidity minimal. I am hoping that will take care of the heat.

I look forward to seeing the picture of your coral. Do you happen to have any current pics of your 29g setup?

Those fans should help a lot. Mine problem is that tank is in the landing area upstairs, along with a 75g, and there are no AC vents in that room.

This sort of current, maybe about month old picture.

Thanks for the photo - that looks like a LOT of light!! I hope you keep posting pictures as the tank progresses.
