Do These Things Swivel?

Roger,

Previously you'd recommended a pair of 6100 Stream pumps and a 7095 multi-controller for my new 225g reef (72l x 24d x 30h). You also recommended they be positioned in the rear corners with the water flow to the front center of the tank.

What I don't understand though is how I point the streams at the front center if the unit is attached to the rear pane of the tank. The product descriptions on the Tunze web site only show the pumps positioned at 90 degrees to the pane.

So, do the pumps swivel on their mounts so that, even though they're mounted flush to the pane, you can adjust the angle of the output stream to the left or right as needed?

If so, what's the range of motion? Does it matter if I use the standard mount that comes with the pump or the magnets...does one work better/worse for this than the other?

Sorry if it's a silly question, but the kit is almost $900, close to $1,000 if I get the magnets too, so I want to be certain I understand exactly what I'm getting into before I place the order.

Thanks,
Chris

Also, just so we're clear, the tank will be a mix soft, LPS and SPS corals.

I don't know if that changes your recommendations about the pump models, but...better safe than sorry.

Thanks again.

They swivel, about 30 degrees to the left or right of center. It doesn't matter which holder you use. My recommendation would only change if the Softies and LPS will dominate the tank. If that will be the focus with only a few SPS, 2 6000 would be better.

Roger,

As I plan to start with softies and LPS, working my way up to the more challenging SPS sometime down the road (assuming I'm successful in my soft & LPS efforts of course), it seems more appropriate to go with the pair of 6000's now.

That said, I noticed in another thread you stated that the 6000 could be upgraded to 6100 by changing the transformer. Assuming that I'm successful and there comes a time when I want to start keeping SPS corals, what's the cost of a transformer upgrade for 6000?

Also, if I were to upgrade one of the 6000's, placing my SPS in the higher flow zone, do you see any issues with operating a 6000 and 6100 off the same 7095?

Just trying to put the roadmap together in my head.

Thanks again.
