Do you need a lid for a mantis?

I'm planning on building a zero edge tank and was thinking of putting a mantis in it. Would that work or would the mantis escape? What if I put a euro-brace around the top?

i believe that a mantis will get out, my peacock personally when she was put in her tank went for the surface to try and get out right away

I dont have one on mine (it has half covered the other half not) but it has quite high sides. I originally had him in a smaller tank that was fairly shallow and my LFS told me it would need a lid as it might flip itself out. However now that Ive moved it into the much larger tank I havent had a problem with it coming to the surface.
