Do you order small or medium fish online?

So do you order your fish small or medium when you buy online? Realizing small/medium is all relative. For example Anthias do you have better odds paying $2 or $3 more a fish and going with medium but then do you run the risk of some already starting to turn into males? For dragonets would you buy small or medium, or tiny for that matter tiny?

I think for Tangs and what not small is better because some of them grow so fast?

Any one have any thoughts?

It depends on the fish, some do better bought small and others do better bought larger. I also assume you are talking about wild caught fish vs. tank raised as I believe tank raised is not that big of an issue because they are being fed during the rearing stages food that we can all get.

Some fish will have different diets and behavior from junvenile to adult so that is also a consideration.

Generally: Most fish have better survival rates when shipped/introduced smaller. However, depending on the size of your system and the size of fish already in it you may want to get larger specimens.
