Do you run actinics with your Phoenix 14Ks?

I recently upgraded my Coralife 150w fixture with Coralife 10K.

I rewired with Galaxy dual 250w ballasts and Phoenix 14KS. They are way too blue for me, but many state that will calm down.

I have 2x96W PC actinics. Actually Ijust found out on is Coralife's 03 Actinic, and the other is the Coralife 10K.

I will be replacing my power compacts too, my question is wether or not I should stay with actinics or run regular bulbs with the bluer Phoenix.

If the tank is too blue for you run regular bulbs too balance the color out. However I would run actinics because I like my tanks to run actinic lights for 12 hours a day while the halides only are on for 8 hrs a day. This creates a dawn dusk effect which I enjoy.

I do the same with my floresccents and halides.

What is the point of Actinics? Is the whole point to supplement 10K bulbs with some blue and offer some flouresence, or is there another reason you want actinics on you tank?

blue is the color in the light spectrum that penetrates deepest in the ocean. actinics help punch up that blue spectrum (400nm +) for animals that may be more naturally inclined to the bluer light due to depth.
