Do you think this stand provides enough support?

Scuffed Reefer

I picked up this 30 gallon long tank + metal stand from a friend. He was using it for freshwater and he's moving pretty far away so he said I could have it if I picked it up.

I've never had an aquarium so this might seem like a dumb question, but I'm concerned about the fact that there's nothing supporting the bottom of the tank. I've seen it set up at his place for years with a gravel substrate and some plants, but I don't think that weight compares to what I'll be adding when I convert it to a reef tank.

I bought 20 pounds of CarabSea Bimini Pink reef sand and 30 pounds of reefsaver rock. I got the reefsaver rock today and I'm worried about how heavy it is and if it could potentially break the aquarium glass (even if the glass was sealed properly) from the sheer amount of weight. Then you add the stress of the HOB filter, protein skimmer, wavemaker, and a cheap Aquamaxx Prism LED light. Do you think this will be too much weight to break either this stand or the glass? Should I try and reinforce the middle of the stand somehow to support the glass?

I've also thought about buying pukani and using it instead of the reefsaver. It's not as dense so I could fill the tank out more with less weight. I'd probably only cut like 10-15 pounds which is minimal, but it would help ease my mind a little bit if anyone thinks that's a good alternative. Maybe I need to ditch the stand all together.

The open bottom does not concern me as it's a trimmed tank, and pretty much always those only need support at 4 corners.

I'm not sure how strong the sleeve fittings are going into the horizontals, had the verts been placed directly under would have made it much stronger, and I'm curious if it wiggles easy and could rack easy.

Well I'm glad I don't have to worry about the open bottom. That's what I was most concerned about. I actually have 40 pounds of reefsaver not 30. It's in 3 big chunks so tomorrow I'm going to break it up / powerwash it and I'll try to set some of it aside.

As for the stand I guess my best option is to try and find some kind of label or serial number on it but I don't remember noticing it when I carried it in. I'll give it a better look tomorrow.

Thanks
