doc 9002 skimmer question

Hi. Hope your vacation went well. I have a tank with an odd top brace, a 70g corner from Perfecto Mfg. Due to my not wanting to run a sump, I am now thinking of two model 9002's at the back, as this is the only one of your skimmers that I could place in my tankand not have it be too obtrusive. Would this be sufficient to clean a mixed biotope, and due both sides of the skimmer need to be exposed to water for it to skim. Due to the shape of the top brace, they will have to go in with one of the 4.9" sides against the glass. Thanks.

Two 9002 is almost as much area as one 9005. The 9005 would be vastly superior to 2 9002. I wouldn't think 2 9002 is sufficient.

I appreciate the reply. Unfortunately, I can't fit the 9005 in the tank without it being obtrusive to the eye.

I just don't think you will find anything smaller that can do a proper job. I understand your concern but if you layout the rock properly you can hide it pretty well and it is much more unsightly to have algae problems. A skimmer is only part of having a healthy tank but it is hard to be successful if it is undersized.

I understand. I just don't think I can make a 9005 work. The brace is not just across the center but actually forms a "t", only allowing 3" of clearance in the rear. In order to have the cup out of the water it would have to sit in the middle of the tank, and it's just not a large enough tank to be able to hide with aquascaping. In talks now with The Fish Nazi to make me a HOB box for a skimmer to sit. Thanks for your help.
