Can I use a Tunze magnet to mount a DOC skimmer in my sump to get the water level correct?

Does the magnet replace the skimmer holder?

Yes, the nipples on the back go through the keyholes in the mag holder.

I see there are two types of magnets depending on thickness of glass. I have an AG 90 gallon tank. Which one would I need?

The 6080.50 is for 1/2" or less, that is what you would want. The 6200.50 is for 1/2" to 3/4" or very heavy items like the calcium reactor or bio reactor.
