Just to be sure about the weight i would want one. On my 75 the tank and stand have a center brace.

I have 29G (30" wide) and I can tell that it bows.

If it was designed with one, then yes.

Tanks with out center braces are reinforced to prevent it from bowing, ie: eurobrace.

as already mentioned- depends on design/dimensions etc.

Glass thickness and tank height are very important factors.

I have an old 75g tank without a center brace. Stock, assembly line tank from the factory. Probably made with thicker glass, as already stated.

These center brace-less 75g tanks are prime to use for a sump. I can take a pic of it if you'd like to see.

If you have a 75g tank that currently has a center brace, I would not recommend removing it. Unless you plan to remove the whole top brace and do euro bracing.

You can remove the brace only if you replace it with either an acrylic one or do what I did on my 120... for about $30 I had a 3/4 inch metal frame (without cross brace) made. I painted it with Marine grade black paint and it looks great!
