Does a JbJ 12 Gal Deluxe Nano need A heater and if so what kind

depends on the ambient room temp.
I didn't need one until almost Dec.
I will probably remove the heater from my tank next month.
but it's pretty warm here (Los Angeles)

Id say yes, it cant hurt. thats why they have temperature settings.

50w is good for a 12g, I use ebo jager

in CT you will definitely need a heater at some point unless you keep your house really warm in the winter.

here in FL i never have to use a heater. in any of my tanks. ever. heheh

Yes definately! You want to keep the temp as stable as possible. Temperature will change quickly in a 12 gallon tank. Don't skimp its less then $20. You'll have more risk in livestock then what the heater cost.

the three compartments in the back habe not top. There are little places where the cords from the lights go out you can remove a little piece and slide the cord through there
