Does any SPS keepers use cheap salt?

So Instant oceanI went with, I was able to get for $38 a box so let's see if I get dirty bucket when I make sale like reef crystal did

Lots of people have used IO for ages with great results. My GF uses IO RC for all of her stuff, and has never had any problems with it other than residue in the mixing bin.

Kent here also. Used io for a long time but got tired of having to raise levels now I just mix and forget.

Tried the expensive stuff like aqua vitro (hated it) neo marine almost nuked my tank with a tainted batch last month. Reef crystals is OK but numbers are high as heck and leaves mud in the bin.

Tried a bunch of different salts and not sure I've found the right one yet. My favorite was TMP till I got a really bad batch. I just want something with high levels of Ca and MG, but low levels of KH.

Been using RSCP for a while now because the locals sell it for $60 for the 200gallon bag.

That said, there was a thread somewhere showing how many big aquariums and fish stores use IO and have used it for a long time with great success. So in the end use what works for you and fits into your budget as it seems almost all the salt mixes out there will support SPS as long as your doing your part as well in caring for them.

I have to say, one advantage of using the RSCP if you can get a good price is I use less salt per gallon to achieve the same salinity than the IO and Brightwell I have used. So yes you pay more but it may save a bit in the long run.

used TMPR and RBS for many years ...

recently I have more water, so use kent, IO, and some TMPR on each water change.

have not noticed any difference.

I used RSCP for 2 years and changed to IO and everything in the tank looks the same .
I use the same amount per gallon to get same salinity.
