There is NO perfect salt - because, there is NO perfect aquarium ( or aquarist).

I have a perfect aquarium because I use the perfect salt....See previous post.

I like that too!

Your Attitude almost always determines your altitude in life :smokin:

In that case I've got you all beat...I use Mother Natures own salt, the stuff all the manufacturers attempt to imitate :D

Nope, the Gulf Stream makes the Red Sox downstream from the Yankee's toilets :D

However, we are therefore also downstream of your toilet :eek1:

I have to say its better then the available NSW from UC Santa Barbara. I used it for a while until I found AquaCraft...seriously. Hands down the best salt I have used. I found a local connection and bought a pallet of Marine Environment. I also use it on all my tanks I service.:smokin: the good stuff.

Are you sure? I am in NC.........It is a LONG way - and very far North to get to Long Island.

How far do you have to haul water?

We have a lot of reefers in the SF Bay Area, and the salt is made around here, but no one uses it. People don't like the salt, and people don't like the company/owner that makes it. :D

If a company is dubious enough to create a fictitious report, then they are dubious enough to cut corners with their ingredients. I find its best to avoid companies with a history of deceiving their customers.

Ok the owner is not everyones favourite but whats wrong in priding in the product you create. If you dont believe in what you sell how would you expect others to believe in it.

And that talk about ingredients is nonsense...and unproductive. You want to talk cutting corners on ingredients then one of the big 3 brands is guilty of it. Im not here to bash any products so no names out of me.

Geezz...
Why did I think you were in Long Island? Must be the meds....:p
Yep - fuel cost, and frustration are more expensive than any decent salt mix for sure.

Didn't he sue a reef club because they had www.marineaquarist.org and he wanted it?

Well, suing a NPO reefclub just because you want their domain seems pretty icky, and I wouldn't want my dollars to support such a company - especially when there are plenty other salt alternatives out there.
I find that the S-15 report is still being used as marketing to be troubling as well. This is old news, but the report has been widely understood to be bad science by industry professionals (for a start - http://www.wetwebmedia.com/aqcrftsaltmix.htm ). That it is still in use as support for a the company that produced the report makes it feel so much more like marketing slickness than something helpful. And, we routinely route companies for doing such things (weiss products anyone?) that I become unsure why some ignore it in this case.
Every so often, over at least the last 10 years, this salt gets brought up and some people swear its the best thing ever when it seems to me its just another salt. If this salt were magic, more people and more institutions would be using it - but they aren't. Its just a salt with a lot of hype pushed by the owner of the company. I don't particularly see any problem with the salt itself though, I just choose not to use it for reasons I have already posted.

I use IO, RC or Tropic Marin.

I dont think there is one product sold where the manufacturer is a "saint"

The company's marketing may be questionable to some but really at the end of the day if the product is good who cares about hype

Your mixing up the West Coast and East Coast people :D

The Gulf Stream swings past North Carolina on it's way north, past Long Island on it's way up to Labrador. Neat thing about that, it brings us juvenile tropical fish in the late summer :)

As far as my water transportation, I work in a marine lab with a seawater well. All I need to do is turn on a tap in the lab and fill a jug :D Even if I didn't have that advantage, I live on an island...don't have to drive more than a couple of minutes to get to a beach :D

Brian-
It would be hard to understand why a manufacturer - that exists or dies based on establishment of "good faith" with hobbyists - would actually sue his customer base???
And - not all companies have legal issues. None of mine do. It is often just a choice of doing the right thing for the customer that makes the difference.
I do not know of anything positive or negative of this salt, or the manufacturer.
But, I have - as I am sure everyone has - seen companies that forget the value of good customer relations, and quality information about their product.
T

Of course the report is in their favor...they wrote it. All I know and care about is that it the best salt I have ever used...PERIOD..Believe me I have been in this hobby for almost 15 years and have used every gimmick and salt there is. I use it because it works great for me and my customers...

I know other local reefers that use RC, IO and Coralife and swear by it. I personally would never use it, but they indeed have good results with it, same with the NSW available at UCSB.

I am not a salesmen just a satisfied customer.......why else would I buy a pallet at a time. I definetly didnt pay the "AquaCraft" website price either....

EVERY REEFER TO HIS OWN.....
