Does anyone else find thr aqualifter pump weak?

I'm using the aqua lifter on my 100 gallon system and still find it to weak to be an ato top off. Problem is, I need a pump of that style because a powerless style won't fit in my ato container. Any suggestions??

What's your ATO setup like? Aqualifters don't do well with headloss, but along a level/horizontal run, they do fine (IME).

You could certainly run an external pump, but that's probably neither cost nor space efficient for an ATO setup.

It just sits on top of the reservoir

What are you looking for it's only 3.5 gallons per hour haha. I use it for mine and love it, you don't really want it to gush water in depending on what type of ato you have

how big is the opening of your ato reservoir?
look at water pumps from harbor freight, they have small ones.
if the smallest still does not fit, you can always cut the opening to enlarge it enough to fit the pump into the container.

That's not terribly different than my setup. I assume there are no kinks or restrictions in the hose?

Silly question, but... Can air get back in the reservoir as the water is being pumped out?

yes there is a hole in the back of the resevoir, not a silly question. most people don't know that.

so anyway i ordered an Avast Marine Diaphragm Top Off pump. so that should be a lot better. since they claim 400 liters per minute. i shouldn't have an issue now haha

Odd. Maybe you just have that much more demand from the pump than I do. Your system is about 2x the size of mine, so it makes sense, but even so, my AL is more than enough for my topoff needs.

GL with the new pump. If 400l/mi doesn't do it for ya... lol.

It's much stronger. It's much louder but it doesn't run very long since it's so much faster.

It's way louder than an aqualifter, but it works a lot better. Mine turns on probably once an hour for about 10 seconds at a time.

I'm assuming you have one then? And you're saying it's super loud?? It should only run 3 times a day for 10 seconds

I have two - one is quite quiet, the other quite noisy. The difference is that the first is mounted to a really solid surface, the latter is not.
