Does anyone else think the acan craze is over?

These exact ones are being sold on at least a few sites ive seen for anywhere from $50-$70 a head. I got this colony at my lfs maybe 8 weeks ago. The 2-3 smaller heads at the front might be new growth but the rest was there when bought. You cant even see the back but can still easily see over 20 heads in the pic, it actually has about 30.

One site i saw is selling these exact ones for $189 for 3 heads! Thats more than i paid for this whole colony! And it wasnt some fluke or lucky deal, the one behind it is the exact same and was bought 2 weeks later at the same store for the same price from a different shipment.

I'm quite sure my lfs doesnt get colonies for cheaper than the vendors mass ordering hundreds of them. Then again, my lfs is a GREAT store and not looking to make 5000% profit off a coral like the online chop shops. The white knights can say what they want about how expensive shipping, aussie divers, etc are, but If my lfs is getting them that cheap, i think it kind of proves my point about how bad the chopshops online are raping people on these things!

I really like acans. never actually bought them tho. always traded for them. i refuse to spend 50$ per head on a small coral. pff its insane. anyway, even if i could, i wouldnt buy them. as you kno, here in america its all based on demand. if the demand drops, and they keep coming, the price will go down. however it could go the other way too. like stated above, if they do stop shipments, the supply goes down, and the demand goes up and then we're talking big $$$$. however, im happy with the few i traded for. these huge colonies people buy, or the large collections are just plain stupid and immature.

the most expensive coral ive bought to this day is a tyree watermelon echino frag for 80$ from another hobbyist. so, im not really sure why people even spend so much money these days. (iv got backup on the source of this coral)

i guess people are just too LAZY to look around for a good deal. or too impatient to wait for a good deal. but thats their fault. people are always looking for instant gratification. if people could just live with the few acans they have, and let them grow, im sure they could do trades for new ones.

believe it or not, i spent more money on gas trips to the LFS or to meet a local hobbyist, than on the actual coral. so i blame the high prices on the stupid people to actually PAY those high prices. if people dont pay... the people selling dont make money. and when they dont make money, they either can lower prices so people start buying, or risk going bankrupt.

thats all i going to say on this topic.

anyway, this topic is about the acan craze. i do not think that it is quite over yet. i still see acan lords (aussies especially) priced very high. a small 2 inch colony at one of my LFS' commands a whopping price of 200$. WOW. and frags with like 4 heads are 100$. so i dont think its over yet. i do hear about the great deals (like the guy with the insane rainbow acan) but those are rarer than overpriced acans.

dont get me wrong. acans are very desirable (due to their insane color and hardiness). which is why the craze will go on.
