Does anyone have one??? I just bought one today. Don't see much red ones around

Well i was at the lfs today and i couldn't pass up on the Red Mandarin Goby i saw. I already have a mandarin but you don't see many red mandarins around. So i'm going to catch my green one out and put the red one in. The green one has been in my tank for 8 months now.
Target Mandarin (passed away) for those of you who think you can keep 2 mandarins in one tank don't do it. My green has gotten fat since i added my refugium then i saw this target mandarin at my lfs and it was starving so i bought it and put it in my tank with the green mandarin well they pretty much competed over the pods and finally the target mandarin died.

The Target Mandarin would probably have died ,even if it was the only Mandarin in your aquarium, if it was severely emaciated. Every Dragonet I've ever kept has eventually taken to prepared frozen foods (had a Target that would eat flake) and if your present one excepts prepared foods and your tank is big enough you could add the new one with it because if the second group of pictures is of the present one it is a female and the new one is a male. If you tank is tall enough you may get to witness some interesting breeding behavior.

I have a beautiful red manderin... he's like a little dragon the way he stalks the pods off the liverock and bottom of my tank! You will have visitors going nuts over him I'm sure... :-)

hi i have a pair of reds (and pair of greens ) as yours is female get a male to see some amazing behavier .

Live Aquaria had them for $29.99... But then you have the shipping to deal with. I asked my local store and they said over $100. They are being raised by ORA now also. Since it is a color morph I wonder about mixed green/red breeds...

Did you QT your mandarins? and if yes how did you feed in QT? I have a red mandarin that is in QT now... and am just started Tank Transfer.. want to make sure he lives through the process. Mine is starting fatter though... but has a few spots and color is not great yet?? Any idea what the white spot is on his side? and on his eye?View attachment 273304

If possible I would recommend quarantine for all new fish. As for feeding... feed what they are used to. If you get them from a store (and they are nice and healthy looking) you should be able to ask what they have been feeding. Otherwise go with some live food and maybe a bit of frozen/flake until you are sure they are eating what you want them to or you are used to what they eat and they have proven healthy.

I guess that goes for pretty much any fish... but Mandarins are just such fun little ones that happen to be picky eaters, I like to be safe than sorry.
