Does anyone make their own 2-part DIY?

I would like to start making a high quality form of 2-part and magnesium at home to by-pass the B-ionic that gets VERY expensive. If anyone is skilled at making this at home and wouldnt mind showing me please post or pm. I would like to get some hands on learning making the stuff because it sounds very confusing reading what randy holmes farley writes in his DIY articles here on RC. I would hate to make a mistake and dump it into my reef to save a few bucks on b-ionic. Maybe if someone is going to make the stuff i can help out with expenses and split the stuff.

Thanks guys,
Eddy

Its real simple Eddie, mix 1.5 - 2 teaspoons of ms Wedges or any kalk, to 1 gallon of water. Dose that in the tank for calcium. The dosages are recommended to be dripped so that your ph does not swing too much (this is a temporary swing, it will not maintain ph high), it will also boost alkalinity. You will be replacing the evaporation water basically. For a higher demand alkalinity, thats if you see the alc drops below 8-12 you also need to dose part 2. Part 2 is baking soda baked in the oven for about 2 hrs, and then dissolved in ro while is still hot. You only need to start dosing part 1 for calcium first. The changing process has to be slow, and do measurements to see the demand of lime water. Start dripping and test to see calcium and alc swings. Then adjust according to results.Remember B-Ionic is 57 times stronger than lime water, so 57 little cups of lime water = to 1 little cup of B-Ionic :D An auto top off will be the ideal thing to use to dose lime water. :D hope this can help. 5 gallons ro mix with 10 teaspoons of kalk, let it set for a day. That your lime water. Using Mag flake is only recommended if the serial number begins with a V or lower, the new Mag flake produced for about a gear has high bromide, and Dr Randy is currently testing to see effects. So far is ok but I would wait.
