Does anyone sell Ocean Runner Pumps locally?

Hey all, since no one has any Quiet One pumps (I'm really hesitant to try this pump anyways) I'm now looking to find an OR Ocean Runner 2500. Even though I'm afraid it might be too large physically my frustration with my Mag experience has pushed me to the edge!

Someone please chime in, I'm about to throw my mag pump out the window!!!

I have had nothing but problems with mags too, I just switched to a OR3500 for my closed loop and I love it! its quiet, and surprisingly cool running. I ordered mine from aquacave.com, they had the best prices online. I have only had mine for a week, but I strongly recommend it.

i have a quiet one 6000 as my return. it's completely silent. i also have an or2500 pushing my skimmer. no complaints on either.

I initially set up my system with a Mag as the main return pump running externally. I've been through 3 pumps in a year and a half. Two of the three seized and melted, one just stopped.

And I'm sick of it.

House of fins huh? I'll have to give them a call.

Thanks

Mags are not intended for external use and this is not recommended by the manufacturer. I've used Mags submerged for years without issue. I replaced an impleller once, but otherwise trouble-free.

Comp, i had a mag 7 external that leaked on me the moment i ran water thru it! Ill never do an internal/external pump again like a mag, quietone, ORunner, etc.... I bought a little giant and its not very loud and *thank God* has run flawlessly. Have you considered an external only like a little giant, iwaki, etc?

I use the OR 2500 for return, but it is in sump. I also use a 6500 for my CL.

I am happy with both. The loudest part of my system is the water traversing through the spaflex :). Of course there is a little ambient noise from the 6500, but I swear the 2500 is silent (in sump)

Pedro, where were you dude when I was setting this thing up?

I wish I would of known that before I set it up. Actually I purchased most of my first equipment from Dr Fosters and in their catalog it says the pump can be used externally so I went for it. Of course after everything was setup I found this out. I then read in a Marine Depot mag that they are not recommended for use externally. I use a submerged Mag 5 for my skimmer and it has worked well.

Ghost, all of the mags I've setup externally leaked. I actually have to silicone the impeller cover to the case for it not to leak. :(

Isis, my tank is 65gal and a sequence will be way too much flow. Not to mention my lack of space, the mag is right behind the Kalk Reactor look for yourself:

Mr. Mike Powell House of Fins does not carry this pump.

Still looking for one locally if possible.

Mel, will do sir.

I had a QO 3000 as my return pump for a couple weeks was dead silent. I only changed it cuz it was too much flow.

I have a 6500 on my 110g and i have no complaints. its quiet efficient, cheap and no heat. only thing i like more are iwakis,

Gentlemen, please remember that this pump has to run externally as I have no space for it inside my sump. That's why I'm really interested in trying an OR 2500 pump.

Thanks again, and still looking...

It may be a drive, but I think Coral Seas Aquariums in WPB has them. We had a PBMAS meeting there last weekend, and I am pretty sure I saw them.

I would suggest giving Rob a call first, if you plan on making the trek.
