Hey WaverZ wants it let him have it I am not sure I could get to it or get someone to get it for me. Ya I had read it both ways about it eating fish.

They will probably eat dead fish, but I have a hard time believing that they will eat (or could eat for that matter) any fish larger than a couple of inches.

I have a very large green brittle star and I've seen my smaller fish swim over it, under it, around it and I've never seen it try and go after the fish (even sleeping fish close to it). I have seen my diamond goby bite off the tip of one of it's arms.

I know that many people say they eat fish, but I have yet to see any real verifiable documented proof of them catching a live fish and eating it.

i figured itd be pretty hard but the whole thing about them hiding in caves and whatnot and dropping down seemed pretty convincing, although i kind of doubt a fish would just stay asleep and no try to swim away... i just dont want to take the chance.

If you could train it to eat a Flame Angel, I'd like to borrow it for a week!:eek1: :D :D

whys that? do you have one you dont want? because i would totally take it... just sayin.

I also have heard green brittle stars may eat fish. I have never witnessed it though. My invert book by r shimek does even have it listed as The Green Death.

I suppose it may have to do with how hungry it is and what type of fish you have. I would think smaller bottom fish would be the most vulnerable.

Yah, I think this is very common in most star fish. Although I can see a dead but find it hard to believe that it could catch a live (good health) fish.

When I have had losses, I've almost inevitably found the dead under the hungry mouth of a starfish.

The same thing could be said about bristleworms, but that doesn't mean that they kill fish. It more likely that something else killed the fish and the starfish is just enjoying the free buffet.
