Does Clownfish have breeding seasons?

Just curious, talking to one of my LFS, they said that their black ocellaris have more spawning in the summer than in the winter.

I am wondering if the seasonal changes actually impact the spawning of clownfish or the size of the nest?

My normal orange ocellaris seems to be spawning every 15 days on a regular cycle.

Does that apply to most clownfish species? Any clownfish breeders can comment on their observations?

Thanks

Once they start spawning, the season doesn't matter. However, in my experience, most of my pairs first spawnings have occured in the summer. My guess is that it is more a temp thing than anything else, since summer time daylight hours are not much different than winter daylight hours in the tropics where they would normally live.

Perhaps your LFS is refering to the time of year in which WC fish are available which does seem to be seasonal.

Like Phil, I've never heard of clowns changing their spawning cycle seasonally. I only have one pair of clarkii breeding so, this is based on the writing of lots of breeders here and on other clownfish sites plus books.

nah, he specifically talks about the BW clowns they are breeding and he said he get alot more in the summer. So that was why I am wondering.

My personal normal ocellaris breeds pretty ritually too... so I am wondering the validity.

Thanks Phil

What species are your breeding pairs?

Well since my females orange skunk (A. sandaracinos) decided to jump out of the tank, none.
But in the past I have had ocellaris, percula and sandarcinos.

Phil, do you want a female clarkii to go with your sandaracinos?

She's paired in the past with a polymnus. But unfortunately the polymnus went carpet surfing one night. I had no interest in breeding them but they were in exile together and just bonded. They were in exile in the sump with one on each side of the baffles. The polymnus could move back and forth but it was too small for the clarkii. After about 2 weeks they were always together.

.......

No thanks, I actually got a female white cap from fragfarmer that he had had for several months. They haven't accepted each other yet, but they haven't killed each other either, so I am still hopeful.
