Does frogspawn "molt"?

I got a frogspawn a while back and it was looking good for a while. Then one of the branches started to split, but it just looked like it was splitting off. It still looked healthy and didn't really worry me. But as of late it has been, leaving the stem I guess you would say? I've read that it does have a skeleton, so that must be what it is leaving. If so, is that bad? And is there anything I could do to fix/change it?


I want to move it, but I'm afraid it won't like to be touched

It's called polyp bailout, due to insufficient conditions: are you doing your weekly water changes, are you using a reef-friendly salt, and are you supplementing?
A bailed-out polyp can form new skeleton: put it in a shallow glass bowl with some sand, and don't let it be blown about. But the water needs to match the params in my sig.

I'm pretty sure, after doing some reading, that I had too much flow on them and they just got mad. They have now moved to an upturned decorative cup with cracks and holes in it and are seeming to do just fine. They are puffing up when the light comes on. My only worry is that they could eventually out grow the cup.

definitely sounds like polyp bailout... what are you parameters?

low flow and not directly in the light if you put it directly in the light then put it in the sand. My frogs like it under an overhang with little water movement. also may want to do a dip, might have polyp recession some parasite or something it won't hurt i used brightwell dip on a small open brain i have had a long time it wasn't growing after the dip a week later i noticed growth I couldn't believe it.. water params and light type will help out
