does HQI do anything different?

what is the difference between HQI and regular? i was considering using 3 150-250watt MH lights. just wondering if they would have to be HQI to do the 150's

There are differences, but the main one is size. HQI is what people typically refer to the double ended lamps even though it has nothing to do with that. I believe HQI is really a reference to the quartz glass, but I can never find the acronym.

There are some differences in lamp performance, but it really varies from lamp to lamp as well as manufacturer to manufacturer.
