Does Live Rocks need some sun?

FOLR tank. Everything works great for 10 years, so why change it, right?

Just wondering if it would be beneficial for my LRs to get some sun? Because the tank is FOLR, I hardly turn on the tank light.

Is it a good idea for the rocks to get some sun? Or it's a bad idea as it will create algae, and algae issues?

Currently, I have no algae issues, and hardly need to clean the surface of the glass.

Because it is a fish only system, and the fish could care less, it really doesn't matter. Whatever works for you. Should you decide to start keeping any corals then you will, of course, need to start lighting the tank at regular intervals. I go with 12 on 12 off

When you're saying "beneficial" what benefits do you have in mind? If you're happy keep it as it is. On general note sun light isn't good for a fish tank. It has full (natural) spectrum and that something we want to avoid in out tank to prevent algae blooms. In your case one of the possible scenario for sun exposure is algae bloom. If you want to start growing corals I would buy nice light fixture (led). With it you would be in control of intensity and spectrum.

I don't know. Just thought anything natural would benefit from natural sunlight. You are right about the algae. I don't have an issue with it. Why create it as a side product.
