Does microbacter dry rock cycling kit work as advertised?

I ordered a JBJ 45 recently and I'm waiting for it to come in. I'm currently debating between reusing my live rock from my current tank or buying 25 pounds of marine depots aquamaxx dry rock.

My thoughts are that the new dry rock can be glued together fairly easily and I would have more aquascaping options. If I had my current LR in the tank it's in now I'd also have a QT tank ready whenever I buy a fish.

The microbacter kit claims itl cycle the tank in 8 days, meaning I could add my two fish and inverts after that. I'm just curious as to if anyone here has tried it and thinks that's a good idea or not

I haven't used the "kit", but I have used Microbacter nitrifying bacteria which comes with the kit. IME; it works fairly well. Daily dosing will have you cycled in about a week. BUT I would still dose 2ppm ammonia at the end of the week and make sure it processes out in under 24 hours just to be sure.

Thank you! Didn't think of doing that, definitely a great idea
