Does my LTA stand a chance?

Well I bought a small LTA from the dreaded Petco two days ago. Anyway the color looks slightly beached but not bad at all on top the foot look more bleached at a pale pink color. When I got him acclimated and in the tank I noticed he was not sticky at all and in the two days he has been in the tank it has not stuck it's foot to anything. I have it in a low flow area and it's just laying there.

I also tried to feed it a small silverside soaked in garlic and it would not take it, nor would the fish even stick to it. I acclimated it for two hours and the tanks water perameters are very good and stable.

The only other nem I had that had no stickiness died very shortly after it being add, and I'm hoping this is not the case with this one.

Thanks for any help.

If it hasn't attached yet, then it doesn't sound very good. Try making a small depression in the sand and sitting the anemone in it. Hopefully it will attach. Keep an eye out to make sure you remove it quickly if it dies.

When I added it I tried making a indetion two times and kinda barried the base in sand. After about 20 minutes it kinda floated out till it landed in the low flow area were I decided to leave it in hopes it would find a place to attach itself.

They like low flow so it should be happy there. I wouldn't soak its food in garlic ,the garlic is to tempt fish to eat not inverts. Use selcon or zoecon if you want to soak the silverside in anything. Try not to bother your anemone too much or it will take longer for it to get comfortable and attach. Do you have a picture of the anemone?

Oh I thought garlic and selcon would help to entice the nem. I tried it plain at first then tried soaking and still no go. I planned on leaving him alone, but can nem's regain their stickiness? He actually looks good from the top view, just not acting too good.

Great news! Today I noticed the tentacles were alittle more inflated, and he had his foot planted in the sand. After I noticed the change I decided to try giving it some mysis when I fed the tank, and he took one shrimp. It has regained some stickiness, but not as sticky yet as other nems I have had.

Well I'll give it him a couple more days and try another piece of mysis.

Sounds like he's doing good then. Any pictures?

Just fyi, when I got a new lta and when I moved my first one to a new tank, instead of making a depression in the sand, I held the anemone next to a rock on the bottom of the tank with the powerheads turned off. After it attached to the rock, I let it go and give it about 5-10 mins to get a grip and then turn the powerheads back on. It's worked well for me but it only works if the anemone is healthy/sticky to begin with. :)

Also, my older lta loves moderate+ flow and my new one is in low flow, so it depends on the anemone.
