Does Revive Kill Montipora eating Nudibranchs?

I ask because one person told me that they do and another person told me that it does not.

Also, are some Montipora Sensitive to Revive like Deep Water Acros are?

I heard if you Dip a Red Dragon Acro in Revive that it is instant Death and I do not want to loose any of my Monti's.

How long should I Dip Montipora for in Revive Coral Dip by Two Little Fishies?

I have

Monti Caps (Red/Orange, Green, Idaho Grape).
Monti Digitata (ORA German Blue, Orange).
Monti Danae (Sunset, Rainbow, Superman, Poker Star, Season's Greetings, Chilli Pepper).

Honestly the best dip method I have found is the bayers insecticide treatment. I have great success with it. Search for a thread. It still wont kill monti eating nudi eggs though.

Does Revive Kill Montipora eating Nudibranchs?

These buggers have been doing the rounds in a lot of UK reefkeepers tanks lately...Some people report CoralRX to work quite well. Havent read of success with Revive. You can try, just because I havent read of it doesnt mean it doesnt work.

There are others who report eradication success with Dettol. Yes, this product: http://www.dettol.co.uk/products-for-your-family-personal-hygiene-liquid

The dosage for Dettol is 3 drops per cup of aquarium water. If you are going to try the Dettol, do so at your own risk.

I would buy a few monti frags to test with...so you dont lose your prized/highend pieces. Just to to get an idea of what works etc.

The main things you need to do is:

1. Get all the corals out the tank and into a QT. Cover all remnants of Monti on the rockwork etc.

2. You need to DIP the Montis every 3 days.

3. You also need to SCRUB the underside and white areas of the Monti with a TOOTHBRUSH during or after the DIP. Rinse and place back in QT.

4. Do this for at least 2 months. Like with AEFW's only when you dont see any for a few weeks...you may transfer back to the tank.

If you have large colonies, then it makes it all that much harder.

I have read of reports of the Dusky Wrasse and Silver Bellied Wrasse to eat MEN. It is a bit of a hit or miss with fish.

Hope this is somewhat helpful. Sorry that these are in your tank. Having lost my whole acro collection a few years ago to AEFW, I sort of understand how you must feel right now. :(

Just wanted to add that since you are in the USA, why not try Bayer? This is seems like a better dip than Revive or CoralRX...

I've always wondered about problems with Bayer residue on corals/frag plugs that are put from the dip and rinse containers into the DT. Has anyone ever had problems with fish/inverts after dipping frags and then putting them into the DT?

The caution is ALWAYS rinse the coral well. I vaguely recall someone had issues where they didnt rinse the corals well.

Easiest way to deal with this issue is after dipping to place all the corals in a bucket of water for an hour or so before going back into the QT tank or display.

This extra step should take care of any residual Bayer on the coral tissue surface.

Many people recommended getting Bayer at Home Depot to Dip Coral and Kill Pests like Nudibranchs.

I was told to get it at Home Depot.

But checking Home Depot.com there are 39 options when you search Bayer.

So my question is do I have to get a certain one or are they all the same?

Bayer doesn't kill M.E.N, either dose Revive , Coral RX, Aquavision coral dip or Lugol's at twice the recommended dose.
However all the above dips do help to get the Nudi to release from the monti.

I haven't lost any Monti in Bayer, Revive, Coral Rx or Aquavision, dipping some for in excess of half an hour at twice the strength

Lugol's is harsh on the coral and have lost some frags, which may have been to being beaten up by the nudi's

I have Halichoeres claudia , halichoeres biocellatus in the display that eat the nudi's, they cannot get to all of them so it has been ongoing, I didn't know they were there until I had an outbreak of M.E.N. in the frag tank, which had nothing in it to eat them. I believe the yellow coris ate them until it went carpet surfing.

Been a couple three months and still finding them, any space between plates or under a monti attached to substrate is a good place to find an adult with eggs

I am off to look into dettol
