Does the Cleaner Shrimp disturb your Goniopora?

Dear all :)

I have a Goniopora about 2 months and he is my most favorite coral.

A month ago, I found my clowns arrived and disturbed, so he could not extend max. At last, I moved my clowns to fish tank.

I feed him twice a week (Monday, Friday) with Polyp Lad Reef Booster + Polyp Lad Reef Roid by Two Little Fishies target feeder. Last night, I decided to feed him three times a week. I also dose a little of Iodine, Iron, Potassium daily.

The Cleaner Shrimps usually find food when I feed him. So I have to feed them first and they do not disturb when full.

My led lights are turned on from 12:00PM to 9:00PM. These few weeks he works well even before the lights are on.

Today, he looks not normal (I do not know bad or good) and the Cleaner Shrimps are standing on him. I'm not sure the Cleaner Shrimps disturb him or he does the thing that attracts the Cleaner Shrimps. Sometimes, the Cleaner Shrimps stand on his polyps but I do not see like this before.

My parameters are stable:

Temp: 28.8F
Salinity: 1.026
PH: 8.1
KH: 8.3
Calcium: 470
Mag: 1380
NO3: 0
PO4: 0

What do you think about this?

Thanks & Regards
Khanh

Once the cleaner leaves the goni, do the polyps extend back out? If so, I think you're probably fine.

My hermits climb on my goni from time to time causing it to fully retract. Once the hermit moves on, the goni goes back to full extension. I don't think the hermits (or shrimp, in your case) are doing any damage.

Yes, when the Cleaner Shrimps leave, he works well. When his polyps are full extension, if the Clean Shrimps just climb on without doing anything, he also works well (I think the Cleaner Shrimp is lighter than the Hermit :)) Only this time, he looks so strange.

Jackson, could you please tell me how you breed your Goniopora?

How long have you kept it?

What is the food? How often do you feed it?

Do you dose any supplement?

Thanks so much & Best regards

I don't do or feed anything special.... just dose alk and ca to keep levels reasonable. I only feed my tank about once a week, either a flake food or frozen mysis... and don't specifically feed corals anything.

Do you feed that Goniopora? If so, once these shrimp make the connection between the coral and food the harassment might be endless.

Yes, as I told above, I feed my Goniopora 3 times a week but the shrimps are fed first and they don't disturb when I feed the Gonio

I can't make a scientific recommendation, but I have been dosing iron since I purchased my red encrusting goni and it's done great.
