does this happen to you?

sometimes i just look at my tank and say i give up.....

it's not like it's bad news or anything but it just doesn't seem to progress. like that one frag you want to look amazing just isn't cutting it, or those aptasia that you thought you got rid of start popping back up. or the one amazing coral you loved 6 months ago is just taking up too much space and not thrilling you anymore. silly stuff like that.

i felt that way this morning. but usually if i just lay off and do the minimum (water changes and such) i get the fever back in a few weeks.

i just want to know if i have some weird form of ocd or if this is normal.

naw, you're a freak.

lol no really I am sure many of us have those kinda days. I just recently had a weird happening in my tank and lost some really nice pieces that I just loved in the course of about 8 hours. Then slowly lost more. I was really bummed but I always just pick it back up again and am glad I am still in it.

Sometimes I think my problem is I "over tweak" at times when I should of just left it alone. I bet a few of us are guilty of that.

i just hate losing frags. and i have lost tons of them. uggggh.

yeah over tweaking is a problem.

i need to just leave it alone and let it go nuts on its own i guess.

Or you get home from the meeting to find your Yasha on the floor dead. That sucks. I still can't believe it happened.

Sorry Marcus.

That does suck.

But aren't those bottom guys prone to starvation? Neuroslicer just lost one too. I've got an Orange spotted Sleeper and I'm always throwing sinking pellets his way, to off-set his algea-sifting.

Sorry for the loss Dude.

(Hey, if its any consolation, last week, I fed my GBTA a $12 morsel of what used-to-be a Yellow Clown Goby before it starved itself - and I know I'm overfeeding my tank!! You should see the Regal Tang. She's down-right plump! Oh... and the Bubble Tip seems happy too.)

I know how you feel to loose one of your favorites, I lost mine last week (my avatar) My powder Brown, due to a "stupid" mistake on my part with my ph. Lucky I did not crash my whole system!!

Try not to let it discourage you (or Alex) to much!!

Sorry to hear that, how did alex take it.I know that was his favorite fish.

He still kept looking all over the tank after we told him. He really didn't say much and just stood there starring at the tank for a while.
His fish did eat well and came out every time I fed. He loved mysis shrimp. Later Alex said he wants another one. I guess I need to make adjustments to the top for jumpers.

Hate to hear about the goby, you should get another one. They are great fish.

Had he been in the tank long? Did he have a pistol shrimp buddy? Anyone else in there that might spook him? I have a Yashia and several other shrimp gobies. They are all easily startled but dive for their burrow when they have a shrimp. Mine only leave the sand bed to grab food.

We had him for about 4 months. I had trouble getting a Randall for him but was in the process of getting one as soon as a week from now. The only thing new that could have scared him is the skunk cleaner. He stayed around the sand bed, but who knows what happened.

Lately I've been feeling that way about every other day. I've gotten way behind with both tanks with nitrates, red slime, coralline overgrowth and aptasia. It would take SO much time to clean all this up that I'm overwhelmed to even start. My acrylic is so scratched and has cloudy places from where I let the coralline sit on it too long that it doesn't look great even when I've got it clean.

Trying to set aside 30 minutes a day to pick away at it little by little and hope I can get things looking good again.

You asked. I answered.
I'm not saying bad things don't happen but I just carry on and eventually figure it out.

oh and you have wage slaves to do the daily grind on the tank. ehehhehehehehehehehe

but i know what you mean.

when can you hok me up with a frag of that yellow mille you got in that badass tank?
