does this look like hole in head LLE?

I've had this yellow tang for about 9 months. He's always been healthy, except for being blind in one eye, which you can see in the pix. The LFS said he came in with some kind of injury to the eye, and lost the eye. Since he felt he couldn't sell the fish, he sold it to me for $10.

I did a proper QT for him, for about 5 weeks, before moving to my display. He was the last addition to the display tank, about 8 months ago.

He's been eating Spirulina flakes (OSI brand), Emerald Entree, frozen mysis (Hikari), and Hikari Mega Marine. He has eaten Tang Heaven Red before & loves it, but I can't keep it growing in my sump (either the water is too clean or my turbos eat it too fast). It's a picky eater and won't touch much else (Formula 2 flakes or frozen, formula 1 frozen, many others tried).

Tonight I noticed some pale patches on his head, which you can see in the pix below. Does this look like HHLLE?

Oops - forgot the pix. Here they are. Ignore the dark spots - they are artifact from my glass needing to be scraped, note the pale areas around the eye and between the eyes at the beginning of the dorsal fin.

I forgot to mention - he eats nori daily (the stuff from Meijer, it doesn't seem to like Seaweed Selects). I've tried Tang Heaven Green before, but it never touches it.

He does really like the japanese nori though.

It might be HLLE because his dorsal fin looks a bit ragged. Try Julian Sprung's Sea Veggies (the green kind). Put a couple of drops of the selcon on it and let it soak in for a bit.

My yellow tang developed HLLE from his diet and had the pale patches and the ragged dorsal fin. The good news is that he has completely recovered so HLLE is reversable. I actually didn't use too much of the selcon but kept up with the green seaweed. The pale spots disappear relatively quickly but it takes a bit longer for the fin to regenerate.

Good luck!
