Before I go out and buy all the equipment and stuff please check over my game-plan to forsee any stuff that may cause problems. Please bear with me I'm a newb.

10 gallon custom drilled glass tank, starphire front panel
150 watt 14K SunPod MH fixture
40 gallon sump, 30 gallons of water
protein skimmer
phosphate reactor
Eheim return pump
either wavy-sea or sea-swirl attached to return pump
single powerhead in display
18-26 pounds of LR in display
Aragonite sand
Chiller (possibly)
ATO

Corals:
SPS
Zoa's
Open Brain LPS (possibly)
Crocea Clam (possibly)

Any problems that you may see with this setup? (IE it may be hard to maintain calcium, too much flow, etc.)

Now for the questions:
1. Since I will be dealing with a total of 40 gallons of water how do I stock the fish? (IE do I put enough in for a 40 gallon tank or a 10 gallon tank)
2. How many pounds of sand should I put in my display?
3. How much GPH should the return pump be? How many GPH for the powerhead in the Display?
4. Do you think it would be wise to invest in a chiller? Could I get away without one?
5. Which model of protein skimmer would you reccomen?
6. What type of clean-up crew would you reccomend?
7. Do you think I could add the clam so long as I had enough floor space?

1. i think you should be able to put more fish into a system like this but remember a 10gal tank is not large so make sure all tenants get along.
2.maybe 10 to 15 pounds
3.i would use a mag3 for the return pump and some type of maxi jet inside the system.
4.with a 40gal sump down below its not really needed IMO
5.either a remora or cpr will do well
6.i will let someone else take this one
7.sure can but clams can go on rocks too

but now i have a question for you! since you have a 40gal sump why not go with a larger main tank? maybe a 15 or 20?

Thanks Jim! I really want a larger display tank but I can get a custom 10 gallon tank with starphire glass, overflow, rimless, for a hell of a deal so I am gonna use that.

#5 with the sump I would look for a used Euroreef skimmer like ES5-2 will out perform the Remoras for about the same $$
#3 Mag5 for Return as for ph depends what you want to keep in the tank coral wise my 10g has a mj1200, rio400, microjet 404, another ph forgot what size it and the microjet are mixed in behind my 20# of live rock to eliminate dead spots, a 100 gph hob filter with carbon I have about 800gph in that tank total and am running bare bottom
