Does vodka cause brown algae?

Does dosing vodka cause brown algae similar to a diatome bloom? Im not asking this for myself, just asking for a friend that had a ton of brown algae while he was dosing what I think was too much vodka. Let me know your opinions, thanks

Never tried using vodka in an aquarium before, but I am sure the fish have gotten a buzz.

Dosing to much can cause a bacterial bloom.I also dose with vodka,and sugar.I use bio-digest every other week to replace bacteria back into the tank. hth

I have found that it can. Cut your dose in half for a few weeks and let the system clear up. Then do tests and if needed increase the dosage a little until you get where you want. You may not be able to get to where your at now just give it time to work.
