Does your tank have off days??

Most of the times my tank looks great but every so often candy canes, duncan, frogspan, etc just dont open up as much and look flat. Nothing changes in water, lighting, temp parameters. Like once or twice a month looks blah.

Anyone else have this??

Can't say my entire tank has off days, but individual corals definitely have off days. I'd be concerned if everything in the tank looked blah. Something is changing, but it's probably just something you're not measuring, or can't be measured. Our ability to test things in our tank is really limited, when you think about it.

I agree, my candy canes seem to have off days as well... But after it looking blah, come to find out it made a new head. Same with my frog spawn, after t looked blah, it split.... Could also be other factors. My sps sometimes dosnt have great polyp extension, then I notice either my one year old son or a snail has moved my blower to we're it is deflected away from my corals...

all corals will open and close for a period of time for no particular reason anytime. But never have everything closed up at the same time unless something is wrong with the tank.

Yup, I've noticed the same thing too. Really no different than your kid sleeping more than normal just before a growth spurt.

Do you happen to have a leather coral of sorts? If so maybe when it sheds it irritates the other corals. Or maybe one of the other corals is releasing something into the water column thats doing it. You never know.

Thanks, i should clarify it is as fellow members mention it is only a few corals and not the whole tank at once, like said earlier on day canes will look off and look great or kenyas wont open and than split.

As stated many coral will have "off" days or what I call "Pouty" days but with that being said if I see a good portion of my tank having a "Pouty" day at the same time I start checking parameters because most wont do that at the same time.
