Dogface Puffer not doing well

Hello,

I have had this fish for over a year andhe has always eaten like a pig. It has been a little over 3 weeks now and he has not eaten. All he does is sit in one spot and from time to time he will swim a little bit. Now when he swims he has trouble and his fins are held close to its body. I see no physical symptoms or anything. The only problem i have is high nitrates over 100ppm. All the other fish are doing great. Also one other thing our Sailfin tangs fins are really tattered looking. I thought i read somewhere that high nitrates can cause fins to deteriate.

Thank you

Holding the fins in can mean bacterial infection or just really weak. What do you feed the puffer? Too narrow a diet can lead them to stop eating.

Well he died yesterday :(. I was feeding a variety of foods, shrimp, krill, crab. He would eat like a pig.

Thank you
