I came home from work today and i noticed that my puffer has a lump on the right side close to the tail. It seems like he is breathing heavier and looks like he has some trouble swimming kinda like the tail is floating upward while he is trying to swim downward. i tried looking online to see some options but couldnt really find anything so if anyone can help me out it would be great thanks.

the first picture is the only decent one you can see the lump on the right side near the tail. but when hes laying under a rock you can see the tail lifting in the air, i think it might be an air bubble from the only info i found but not deffinite since i diddnt see him puff up or anything, something happened while i was at work i figured it might not be a disease since it happened rather quickly.

That looks like an air bubble to me. Puffers get this often, especially when they accidentally ingest air, most commonly from getting overly excited and swimming to the surface to eat the food that's dropped.

What you want to do is to catch him with your bare hand. Hold him vertically with the head up, and gently massage his body and try to push the air bubble towards his mouth. At some point he should burp the bubble out. If that doesn't work I usually try to rub the puffer's belly back and forth quickly. This would scare him and makes him puff, and while he deflates he would get the air bubble out along with the water.
