Doh, two out of 8 didn't make it

I got my order of gobies in today, two didn't make it. They happened to be both the Neon Red Eviota Gobies. Is this a coincidence or are these usually hard to ship?

I've already sent in an email concerning the DOA gobies, but just wondered what other people's experience was. I'm not sure if I want to put in an order in the future to replace them, or if I should hold off.

My gold eviotas came fine, and so did the trimma gobies. The latter gobies are way smaller than the neon red eviotas.

Lastly, the remaining neon red eviota I got doesn't look like the one in the picture, it actually looks more like the trimma with red bands rather than a white stripe and red, except they're not as contrasted as the trimmas.

Kinetic,

We apologize for the loss of the Neon Red Eviota Gobies. This species of fish usually ship well and we inspect each fish to ensure they are healthy and eating before shipped.

We ask you to please email a picture of the remaining Neon Red Eviota Goby so we may positively identify it. Also, if you can please PM us with your order information, we would be happy to look into this for you.

hey chris,

that one that's survived has wedged itself into a hole, I can't seem to get an angle on it. But I can take a picture of the other eviota which three have survived. If you can ID that one, then we'll be pretty sure what the other one was.

I know for sure my trimma gobies both made it, they were sitting out in the open today.

I already sent in an email, but haven't gotten a response yet. I'll PM you my order number.

Kinetic,

Thank you for the post and PM. We apologize, you did not receive a response to our e-mail. We have applied a credit on your customer file for two Red Eviota Gobies which may be used toward a future purchase of live goods or hard goods. We will be happy to look at any pictures you would like to send us.

Hi Pat,

Thanks for the credit. I will try to take a picture tonight in order to get a better ID.

Thanks,
Art

OMG my dog broke my camera last night!!! Knocked the tripod over and then went running with it. It's a DSLR that's pretty heavy, it's cooked =(

I'm going to try to get it replaced.

In the meantime, that one left eviota finally died. It came in bad condition floating to the top, and I was hoping to nurse it back to health in the fuge, but it didn't make it.

That's three down. The trimma gobies are doing great though, eating and coming out to play. The other three eviotas are still kind of shy, but they look healthy.

one more thing,

My email address is totally busted, which is why I didn't get any response from LiveAquaria before! It was my bad! I've changed it now =) Thanks again.

Kinetic,

We are sorry for your loss and have credited your customer file for the Gold Neon Eviota Goby. It is good to hear that the other gobies are doing great. Please keep us updated on the progress of the other specimens from your order.

You are a valued customer and we look forward to hearing from you.

I've been feeding the gobies, and the trimma gobies are doing great! They're both always hanging out on the rocks in plain view, and aren't afraid to swim about 5 - 6 inches away from their perches to chase down food.

I fed them in extremely high flow (didn't turn feed mode on) to see if they could handle it, and did fine.

I saw the eviota gobies, but didn't see them actively chasing down food like the trimma. They look fat though so they're definitely eating.

Thanks!

last night I saw more of the eviotas come out, I think all of them are accounted for and ate.

the trimmas are amazing though, they're very bold. they sit in the wide open and swim a few feet even to get food.

my tank is running at about 3600gph right now of flow, and they can still handle it.

when i turn off the pumps, however, they seem to all come out and even explore a bit. with the pumps on they rarely venture too far. most of the eviotas hang out in the lower flow areas. are gobies less comfortable in high flow tanks?

Kinetic,

Thank you for updating us on your gobies; it is great that they are all eating well. These Gobies prefer lower flow areas of the tank. It is common for these types of gobies to hide in the rock work most of the time and not spend a lot of time swimming out in the open. If we can be of any assistance, please feel free to contact us.
