dolomitic lime

While going through the barn today, I came across a bag of "Dolomitic Lime"-calcium carbonate. It is used for garden soil.

It contains 31% calcium, and 12.5% magnesium. The only other info on the bag says "warning-contains hydrated lime" . Is this the same as Kalk? It caught my eye because of the magnesium content.

Would this be safe to use in a kalk reactor? It would be nice to use something that would add calcium and magnesium at the same time. Any thoughts on this?

Thank you.

It is kinda the same thing as Kalk. The take Dolomitic Limestone and heat it up

CaCO3 + MgCO3 [Ca,Mg(CO3)2] + Heat ---> CaO + MgO + 2CO2

It you take this and add it to seawater, like Kalk, you will get massive Ca(OH)2 precip. So, no you should not use it.

I was thinking of using it to boost Mg and Ca in a kalk reactor. I'm using kalk now to suppliment a calcium reactor. I'm assumming this is like ground dolomite so I was wondering if it may give a boost in Mg also. Would any Mg go into solution in a kalk reactor being fed with RODI water? I'm not very good at chemistry. What does the heat accomplish?
